SLF and TPPF release mini-documentary highlighting real impacts of government overreach

[December 10, 2024] When the federal government overreaches its constitutional limits, there are often devastating effects on the lives of the American people. In order to continue to draw attention to the detriment caused by the decisions in Washington, the Southeastern Legal Foundation (SLF) and Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF) released a mini-documentary to highlight the critical struggles caused by the rule proposed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). They join President-elect Trump to call this absurd proposed rule a day one priority to remove, and are now aiming to educate the public on the costs of this kind of government overreach.

This mini-documentary focuses on the livelihood of thousands of North Carolina boaters and how restricting their speed to 10 knots in broad coastal waters, or slower than the speed of an average golf cart, will crush livelihoods that go back generations.

Highlighting the heartbreaking stories that the impact government overreach has on the lives of real people, this mini-documentary shows Americans the practical toll these unnecessary regulations will ultimately take on people’s lives.

Southeastern Legal Foundation Vice President of Litigation Braden Boucek said, “We are excited to bring this mini-documentary to the American people to highlight the impact of these kinds of rules. North Carolinian boaters are the lifeblood of the coast and great examples of the hard work the boating industry requires. We are glad to be able to give them the voice they deserve through this mini-documentary.”

Texas Public Policy Foundation General Counsel Robert Henneke said, “We are glad to join SLF to give the people of North Carolina back their voice. Telling these personal stories is so important to understanding the need for preventing poorly made rules. We hope these stories are heard far and wide so everyone understands the true impact of unconstitutional agency overreach.”
