Title IX

What is Title IX?

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a civil rights law passed by Congress that requires schools receiving federal funding to provide equal educational opportunities to boys and girls and has served as the bulwark against sex discrimination in our nation’s schools. Because of Title IX, our nation’s schools must treat all students equally regardless of their sex. Title IX also protects the rights of girls and boys to have sex-separate athletic teams and private spaces like bathrooms and locker rooms.

In April 2024, the Biden administration created a new Title IX rule that strips women and girls of the protections and equality they have had for over 50 years and redefines “sex” to mean “gender identity.” SLF represents Moms for Liberty and Young America’s Foundation in a historic lawsuit against the Department of Education that has stopped the Biden-Harris Title IX re-write from going into effect in schools in all 50 states.

For Parents

The most important battleground in the fight to save our American Republic is the public schools.

In Southeastern Legal Foundation’s experience, parents need answers to their problems right now. That is why SLF published its Title IX Pocket Guide for parents. In it parents will find an overview and history of Title IX, a discussion of the Biden Title IX re-write, and hypotheticals to help parents fight to save Title IX and stop their children from falling prey to radical gender ideology.

The law can be a powerful weapon, offering hope for a lasting victory. Before parents can successfully save Title IX and stop radical gender ideology, they must first understand it and layout a strategy. It is SLF’s hope that this guidebook with help parents across America do just that.

For Students

College students need answers. The Biden Title IX re-write silences female college students for simply believing in the biological reality that there are only two genders and for speaking up for their physical safety when forced to share a bathroom or locker room with a male.

That’s the bad news. The good news is that Southeastern Legal Foundation and the Riley Gaines Center at Leadership Institute have developed a guidebook and series of modules that give you the tools you need to fight back.

In this course you will dive deep into Title IX and uncover facts, strategies, and actions you need to defend your rights. This course empowers you with the knowledge to speak out, advocate, and lead effectively on your campus and beyond. Enroll for free today!

For School Board Members

Navigating the complexities of education law and policy, student and parent constitutional rights, and the Biden Title IX re-write can be an impossible task for our nation’s school boards. That is why Southeastern Legal Foundation, the Defense of Freedom Institute, and Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty released a resource guide to assist school boards in navigating the complex requirements of the Biden-Harris Title IX re-write.

The in-depth analysis provided in this resource addresses the complexities posed by these regulatory changes, as well as pending court cases like the one brought by SLF’s clients Moms for Liberty and Young America’s Foundation.

The guide covers vital aspects of the rule including the implications for changing the definition of sex to include gender identity, the lower standard for harassment, parental rights, and the assault on due process for students and school employees. Download the resource for free today!
