(April 13, 2026): Inside Higher Ed reports on the Trump administration’s recent rescissions of several Obama- and Biden-era Title IX agreements that forced schools to violate federal law by adopting Title IX policies that expanded the definition of “sex” to include gender identity and transgenderism. The resolution agreements, including one in Delaware Valley, Pennsylvania, were illegal because they went beyond Congress’s intent and the plain text of Title IX, as SLF pointed out in a recent complaint to the administration.
In the article, SLF President Kim Hermann applauds the decision, saying that the Department of Education had “an obligation” to rescind the Delaware Valley resolution and the other agreements included in its recent announcement.
She adds, ““I think that what the Trump administration is doing here is actually going to bring a lot of clarity for schools and get rid of that uncertainty because they know that these are the things that you actually need to look at—look to the law, not to a guidance letter that a random person or a random group of people decided to put out because that’s what they think the law means, even though the Constitution doesn’t give them the power to interpret it.”
