(Dec. 11, 2025): In an opinion piece, the New York Post Editorial Board applauds Southeastern Legal Foundation’s (SLF) recent lawsuit against Letitia James on behalf of parents and school board members “who won’t toe the line on gender insanity.”
These parents and school board members have had enough of the threats by Letitia James, Commissioner of Education Betty Rosa, and other state officials to remove school board members who so much as allow public comments opposing transgenderism or expressing concerns about letting boys compete in girls’ sports or use girls’ bathrooms.
In May 2025, James, Rosa, and other New York State Education Department officials issued a “guidance letter” warning school board members that they cannot allow speakers at public meetings to speak out against trans issues, “misgender” someone, or otherwise “demean” others based on gender identity. Yet these topics are at the center of many school district debates in New York and across the country, as female students have been standing up to express their fears over safety and privacy if forced to share private spaces and sports teams with the opposite sex. According to the letter, those students, their parents, and their elected school board members must stay silent.
“It’s disgusting that New York’s top law-enforcement official and it’s No. 1 educrat would push such an obvious violation of basic American rights; we expect the federal courts to slap them both down in short order,” the Editorial Board writes. “Too bad the feds can’t toss both these so-called public servants out of office completely.”
