(April 25, 2024): Southeastern Legal Foundation (SLF) Executive Director Kimberly Hermann joins Lou Dobbs to discuss SLF’s latest legal action against the Biden Administration, including a lawsuit against the Department of Education over its attempts to stonewall and hide records showing racial discrimination in K-12 schools.
After receiving a complaint about racial discrimination and segregation happening in a Chicago-area school district, the Department of Education launched an 18-month investigation into the district and issued a formal finding that the district violated federal law. But just days after President Biden took office, his administration suddenly and inexplicably withdrew the Department’s findings. Hermann explains that in doing so, the Department effectively made it okay and legal to discriminate again.
SLF filed a lawsuit in 2021 challenging the school district’s race-based practices, policies, and programs. It also submitted a Freedom of Information Act request to the Department of Education to learn what happened to the rescinded letter of finding. To this day, the Department of Education refuses to produce a single document, so SLF was forced to sue.
