American Family News: This is not going away: Legal fight over boys in girls’ bathrooms continues

(July 8, 2026): American Family News reports on Southeastern Legal Foundation’s (SLF) recent Title IX complaint against the Upper Perkiomen School District. SLF filed the complaint on behalf of a mother whose special needs daughter encountered a male who identified as a “furry”–referring to someone who enjoys cosplaying as an animal and is often associated with nonbinary and transgender identities–using the girls’ bathroom.

When the mother complained to the school, it said that her daughter could use the bathroom in the nurse’s office rather than agreeing to keep boys out of the girls’ bathroom.

In its complaint to the Department of Education, SLF argues that no child should face such an invasion of privacy.

SLF President Kim Hermann states, “When these schools allow biological boys who have male body parts to invade a girl’s privacy in the bathrooms, they are egregiously violating the law. This has to stop.”

SLF is urging the Department of Education to launch an investigation into the school district and to protect all students’ privacy.
