Schools continue to deny biological reality and instead rob America’s children of their privacy in bathrooms and locker rooms. Ignoring federal law and parents’ concerns, schools across our nation are allowing biological boys to invade girls’ spaces – going so far as even installing urinals in the girls’ restrooms.
This is exactly what is happening at Upper Perkiomen School District in Pennsylvania, where the school maintains guidance that includes “gender identity” in its definition of “sex” and is allowing biological males who identify as females, and furries, to use the girls’ bathroom.
On behalf of a parent in the school district, SLF filed a complaint with the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR), urging it to investigate the school district.

The complaint comes just weeks after the school district told a special needs female student that if a boy who identifies as a girl wants to use the girls’ bathroom he can, and she can either wait or use the nurse’s bathroom across campus – or of course, put herself at physical risk and use the bathroom with the boy. The female student, along with other female students, were upset and reported the incident to teachers. But, they were told that if the male student believes he is a female, he can use the girl’s bathroom. This apparently, is not an isoloated incident.
SLF explains in the complaint, that the school district’s policies and actions violate Title IX because they fail to stop discrimination on the basis of sex, which the Supreme Court has declared clearly means biological sex. It continues: “The District’s inversion of Title IX’s purpose and effect has real-world harms. In this case, the District deprived a special needs student of the privacy and dignity to which she and all girls in the district are entitled under the law.”
SLF is urging OCR to investigate the school district for its failure to comply with federal law, and the organizations will continue to monitor the district’s policies.
