Education Week: What Trump’s trans athlete ban means for schools and states

(Feb. 11, 2025): Education Week reports on President Trump’s executive order saving women’s sports by preventing biological men from competing on women’s sports teams and accessing their locker rooms. Southeastern Legal Foundation Executive Director Kimberly Hermann reacted to being present for the historic signing, stating, “I have a 7-year-old who plays softball, and it was just great to be with her at the White House today.”

Hermann explained that the action by President Trump is “another step toward restoring biological reality to our schools and colleges.” SLF and dozens of states and organizations sued the Biden Administration for attempting to unconstitutionally re-write Title IX to force schools to adopt woke gender ideology.

Soon after President Trump issued the order, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) updated its policies to comply with it, so that now men cannot compete in women’s sports in college. Many interscholastic sports leagues have also followed suit.
