(Dec. 11, 2024): Southeastern Legal Foundation (SLF) Vice President of Litigation Braden Boucek joined the Michael Patrick Leahy Show to discuss the Biden Administration’s proposed rule that would prevent boats 35 feet and over from traveling at a speed faster than 10 knots, roughly the speed of an average golf cart.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s proposed speed limit would impact boaters, fishermen, and entire industries and communities up and down the Eastern Seaboard. In response, SLF issued a public comment opposing the rule and released a mini-documentary with Texas Public Policy Foundation highlighting the effects the rule would have on everyday Americans.
President-elect Trump warned that he would prioritize removing this rule on day one of taking office. But it is still possible that the Biden Administration will force the rule through before then. Boucek states, “It could become a rule any day and it would not be uncommon for an outgoing administration to just crank it out and leave a mess behind for the incoming administration.”
SLF is proud to give a voice to the hardworking Americans impacted by this proposal, and it stands ready to fight back against the federal government’s unconstitutional power grab.
